Tuesday Tastes: Red Foods for Valentine’s Day

Since Valentine’s Day is ever-looming at the end of the week, I thought I would use this post to bring some bright red recipes in to your collections in order to spice up your lovely weekends.

One of the most versatile ingredients to cook with… you can have it for every meal of the day, incorporated into breakfasts, dinners, and even drinks. And yes – it’s RED.

Try this Spicy Couscous and Black Bean Stuffed Tomato recipe. I would probably substitute the couscous for quinoa, just to make it gluten-free, but you can’t go wrong with only 6 or so ingredients!

And you really can’t go wrong with a nice red bloody Mary for brunch on Valentine’s Day either! Look at this adorable infographic I found:

Red Velvet Cake
I don’t know a single person who doesn’t like red velvet cake or cookies or desserts of some kind. So here are a couple great delicious chocolatey recipes for you to take a look through! πŸ™‚

Brownie Red Velvet Gooey S’mores Bars

Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls

Red Velvet Hot Cocoa

Red Velvet Popcorn

Probably the first red food that comes to mind, apples are another one of those versatile ingredients you can have for almost any meal. Whether it be a whole, raw apple, or if its incorporated into more complex recipes, apples hit the top of my favorite-foods list.

Dipped Apples – can’t go wrong!!

Quinoa with Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Apples, and Scallions

Low-Fat Vegan Banana Apple Bread

Apple Pecan Salad

Hopefully this will perk up your red-holiday cheer and you like some of the recipes I included!

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day?
Have any special recipes you’re going to make that are red?

Much love!
