Tuesday Tastes: Almighty Almonds!

Ahhh Tuesdays. Kinda like a Monday, but almost to the middle of the work-week. But still, kinda feels like a Monday! haha. Hope everyone had as happy and productive of a weekend as I did!

Went for a beautiful run/walk along  the lake in Milwaukee.

Went to the gym for some strength training and an amazing kickboxing class. Good thing I had this guy to help me. I am SO in love with these bars!!
This flavor is definitely my favorite too (see below for almond butter obsession).
Definitely gotta stock up on them.

Cleaned my dad’s entire garage out, did some yard work…
my puppy was a big help.

Finally, had a sweet, relaxing Sunday night watching The Parent Trap with my roomie. Such a goodie, huh?

I also got a chance to make my own almond butter for the first time! Turned out pretty well, but I definitely need to add more coconut oil next time. It tastes amazing (obviously, it’s almonds!) but it’s not exactly “buttery.” Well, there’s always room for improvement in Round Two!

  1. I am a big fan of the almond butter. I sometimes live in Canada (sometimes in Chicago) and at my Canada home we recently got a bulk barn where you can grind your own almond butter. We have that in Chicago, but I am still so unnecessarily excited to have fresh ground nut butter in both homes!

  2. Awwr thanks for the almond love, lady! You better believe I adore that little nut…. buuuuut then again some of my love might stem from the fact that I’m allergic to peanuts so almonds kind of have to take first place for me 😉 And I know I’ve mentioned this before but… OMG GUS!!! ❤

  3. I love almonds!! I have made homemade almond butter, but I haven’t added coconut oil to it before, so I need to try that. How much did you use? I know you said you probably need to use more next time though.

    • Well in this batch, I put two cups of raw almonds and just less than a tablespoon of coconut oil. I would go to probably 1.5 tablespoons next time? To just give it a creamier consistency. Although, I do love chunky nut butters 🙂
