Thinking out Loud – It’s MAY Already?!

Wheeeere did April go? I swear I just saw it on my calendar… I cannot believe today is May 1 already. That means Spring should be coming soon too RIGHT? πŸ™‚ Whenever you’r ready, Wisconsin…

Thanks Amanda (as always) for hosting this beautiful Thursday theme πŸ™‚

1.My sister sent me this super awesome infographic of the history of the marathon. It’s hilarious, accurate, and gave me a great insight as to how this psychotic and incredible event came about πŸ™‚ Check it out!

2. Guys, I think I finally caught the cooking bug. I made stir fry last night, and I have to admit, it was pretty dang delicious.

I cooked some small shrimp in a few spices and a bit of EVOO.

And added in a TON of vegetables (kitchen-sink style). Cauliflower, green beans, peas, red pepper, brussel sprouts… SO DELICIOUS. Threw some soy sauce and a few more spices…And here’s what I got! I was thoroughly impressed with myself, haha!

Stir Fry a la Shannon!

3. So my dad has had thisΒ life-long dream of having our own chicken coop. He wants eggs, guys. THAT is his reasoning. Anyways, that day has finally come, and tonight we are going to a nearby farm to pick out our own little baby chicks.

5 to be exact.

We have already picked out names for them (each member of my family gets to name one). My sister picked General Tso, and I have picked Cordon Bleu. (I know, cruuuuuel humor. But all in good fun!) We won’t be eating the chickens, don’t you worry. They will have happy lives just laying eggs for us, and hopefully staying clear from our big moose of a dog, Gus. πŸ™‚

4. Do you ever have those days where you just want to throw your hair up and get it out of your life for a day? Yeah, that’s today for me, and I looove it sometimes. I am one of those girls who 9 times out of 10 has her hair DOWN, but sometimes, psht! I do not want to deal with it.

And it is ohhh so comfortable.

5. I have a half marathon on Saturday andddddd I haven’t exactly been training the most intense for it… it’s hard to juggle running and Body Pump training, to be honest, but I am confident the run will go well…

I mean, come on. It’s the Wisconsin Cheese Half Marathon. That can ONLY mean good things, RIGHT?

Gotta have a good motivation for the finish, right?

Also, I thought this was freaking hilarious. And reminds me of when my dad, sister and I go on runs around a city when we travel. “It will only be a quick 4-5 miler,” my dad always says… TEN MILES LATER.

What’s new and happy in your life? πŸ™‚ Anyone have runs this weekend like me??
Have any of you ever had chickens? Please tell me my family isn’t crazy… haha!

Here are some adorable bunnies. Fighting over food. I just love it.

Let’s connect!

  1. Girl, this whole week has been a hair up kind of week for me… I just don’t feel like dealing with it, and I’ve even been suffocating it with a huge headband from Lulu to keep it out of my life πŸ˜† I’m in desperate need of a trim and a colour — something to get me excited about it again. And that’s the cutest thing about your little chickies! I love tiny chicks, but I’m terrified of chickens (and turkeys). Love the name you picked for your little guy though πŸ™‚

    1. Haha, I hear you about the cut and color! It always makes me feel better too, and I’ve been trying to wait it out til the end of May for a new summer ‘do πŸ™‚
Yes, I’m terrified of ALL birds, including chickens. So this should be interesting. I’m trying to support my dad! haha

  2. I have a half on Sunday and while I don’t feel I am undertrained, I did decide I haven’t paid much attention to a taper week in terms of focusing on the food and rest etc. Ah well, good luck to us both!

    1. Thanks so much!!
And yeah they’re going to be so adorable πŸ™‚ But they grow fast, and in the next couple months or so they’ll be laying eggs already! Oy vey!

  3. Than you for that awesome infographic! Oh, and that sticker could have been mine… I got lost on a 50k trail run once. It was so cold outside and I was all alone and I was soooooo ticked to be lost! I think it only added a mile but still, I was down in the dumps mentally by that point so it just took me lower. I found my way back, though, with all my toes and fingers. πŸ™‚
