MIMM #9: Margaritaville and My 20-Mile Run

It seems like all my posts lately have just been recaps of life: lifescaping for y’all bloggers out there πŸ™‚ Just a head’s up, I may be cutting down on the number of posts I write, in order to heighten the quality of them with more recipes, workout plans, etc. πŸ™‚ But I’ll get some good ones lined up for you guys fashiz, yo!

Friday night after work we headed out to my dad’s house to hang out, celebrate his belated birthday as a family, and eat a ton. Because Saturday morning was my scheduled 20-mile marathon-build-up run πŸ™‚ WOO! MORE FOOD!

And lemme tell ya, there was an ABUNDANCE of great food for us to stuff our faces with.

I made a homemade blueberry pie for the Pops. It’s his fave. It was incredibly simple, as I like, so that the fruit/berry’s natural flavor shines through instead of covering it in sugar and honey and syrup… All natural, baby!

Safe to say we enjoyed it πŸ˜€Β SUCH good food and so much fun with the fam as usual. Patrick even held one of our chickens. Good job, boo.

Saturday morning came FAST, as I had to get up and run my 20 miles for my marathon in October.

Not only did Patrick ride his bike alongside me, but he held my water, Gu’s, was my human timer, and coached me through every single mile. He even held my cell phone to play music for me on speaker and sang along to make me laugh and forget how much pain my legs were in.

My mom got me this shirt for my birthday. And if any of you have seen Big Hero 6, the Disney movie, you’ll understand. “I am not fast… but I am strong.” My favorite shirt!!! You da best mama ❀

Obviously feelin REAL good after the run πŸ˜‰

Two years ago when I was marathon training, my 20 mile run took me 4:08:14. This year…Β 3:25:30. I shaved 43 minutes off… and I am SOOO excited and happy and proud and PUMPED! I averaged 10:14 minutes per mile and THAT my friends, NEVER happens… So my marathon goal time is absolutely attainable after this encouraging and boosting run!! πŸ˜€

Saturday we OBVIOUSLY had plans…and they were the best! We went to go see Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers at Alpine Valley! Our great friends Cassie and Leke joined us, and we had SUCH a great time. ^^Adorable Cassie is 7 months pregnant πŸ™‚ And I felt so many kicks at the show! Safe to say her baby girl was enjoying the music too ❀

^^ This guy was taking donations for “Shipwreck Juice” which he was stirring with a wooden oar, sampling with oyster shells, and totally REPPING Jimmy Buffett’s lifestyle. Loved it.

Sunday morning, we got brunch with our lovely friends since it was their 1 year wedding anniversary! Yaaaaay.

The rest of the afternoon, we saw my family (again), meal prepped for a few days, and enjoyed some Battle Raps from KOTD, which Patrick has now gotten me completely addicted to. πŸ™‚ Yeah, its actually pretty cool.

This morning… ran a few miles, lifted for shoulders, back, and did ab work to cool down.

Whenever I lift weights for shoulders and back, I ALWAYS finish with handstands, forearm stands…inversions of any kind. They force me to flex my core, back muscles, and use my shoulders as anchors to keep my body upright and not smashing my face on the floor πŸ™‚ I ❀ shouldas.
