I know my thinking out loud post is early, but I am WAY too antsy to dish out my thoughts and experiences about my marathon training this week… or actually, more like lots of resting and cross training! Linking up with Amanda, as usual!
First off, #happymonthiversary boo ❤
Since I last posted, I have been FORCING myself to relax, nap every day, eat a good amount of fats, carbs and proteins, and drink enough water to fill a swimming pool (per day, minus the chlorine of course).
ALSO since I last posted, I have switched careers 🙂 Long story short, I am so proud to announce that I have begun working for my dad’s Real Estate business. I have been working for him part-time since he started this business over 10 years ago, and the opportunity presented itself for me to start working for him full-time in the last month. I couldn’t be happier, working alongside my dad, running partner, and one of my best friends.
You’ll be hearing PLENTY of great updates from me in the coming months/years about my real estate experience, spending more time with my dog and little sister, and just overall happier and more “in-her-groove” Shannon 🙂 ❤
Aside from work life, marathon training honestly couldn’t have gone/ be going better. I obviously tapered the last two weeks, running 10 miles one day and actually completing a duathlon last Saturday with Patrick and my dad.
We ran an 8k for Children’s Hospital and I ran sub- 10 minute miles the whole time! Which is a feat for me!
I’ve been doing yoga 2-3 times a week, and it has really been helping with my flexibility and tightness I usually feel in my hamstrings. THANK LAWDY FOR YOGA.
My dog has been getting lots of love from me too lately. Did I mention how happy I am that I now have a more autonomous job? Where I can go for mid-day walks with him and pet him all day at the office??
Another huge benefit (I know, I could go on for days) is that I have had SO much time to COOK! Patrick and I have been cooking up a storm lately, and I finally am learning to fine-tune these skillz, yo. 🙂
Playing cards while we have dinner is seriously the best thing we can do every single night together. I love catching up over a game of cards, although our “Rummy 1000” game has now turned into a “Patrick is just going to keep winning and is winning by 400 points or more at any given time”. Ahhhh well. 😉
Oh, how we love that crockpot…
My favorite… TURKEY burgers!
Ok I know it seems like I make a lot of eggs…and its true. I do. I have no defense.
Okay, more eggs. But THESE are scotch eggs! Ever had them? Because they are HEAVENLY to us. #bakednotfried
Also, #questbars are my new/old favorite post-workout food. *hands up*
The marathon is this Sunday. Starts at 7:30am CST. I know this will be a run/race of a lifetime. I will make myself proud. I can break my PR goal and there ain’t no stoppin me now!
Have a wonderful rest of your week friends! Thanks for tuning in again 🙂
