Life Lately 4.21.17

Hi everyone! Checking in because this week has been such a fantastic and fun week, I have so much to share 🙂

Firstly, last Saturday, Patrick, my dad and I all ran the inaugural Brew City Half Marathon in Milwaukee – I think it went pretty dang well! The course is very similar to every single Milwaukee half marathon course (haha) so I knew everywhere we were running and what to expect, which is always a plus 🙂

Patrick and I finished together, so I’m hoping we have another SWEET finish line photo! Finish time of 2:25!!  My dad was just shortly after us – he always likes meeting new people on his long runs and talks their ear off and gives them running and life advice 🙂

I saw my childhood friend from grade school too – April!

It was a really fun first year and I think they did a fairly good job putting on the race! Aside from running out of water at mile 11 and having gross beer/brats at the end of the race (but that’s just me). The medals are HUGE and claim to be the “tallest” medals for any half marathon. I’ll take that!

And of course, yoga is going really well. Here are some of my favorites from the last few weeks:

**I have also started a push up challenge for myself to 100 per day. Check my Instagram, I post hilarious videos that show how much I’m dying HAHA. 🙂

Sunday was Easter, of course, and we (as always) got Easter baskets from both our mom and dad, filled with candy, and of course, most of that candy is gone already in less than a week. THIS is why I don’t buy candy haha! It disappears in our apartment 🙂

Always love getting a great picture of my family during the holidays when everyone looks so nice 🙂

Patrick (and a little bit on my end) has been DOMINATING the cooking scene the last few months too, and I just can’t get enough of how awesome our food looks on our new plates haha!

Turkey burgers with sweet potato fries.

Chicken thighs with asparagus wrapped in bacon and crescent rolls.

We may or may not have gotten a huge sushi boat last week too. More on that celebration in another post… 😉

And yes, for those who have asked, Baymax is doing SO good. He’s the most perfect puppy, and he OFFICIALLY is over 100 lbs at 14 months old 🙂 He’s so energetic and fun (not pictured above) and clearly loves napping and sleeping and any general relaxing with us after all the running and playing we do every day!

Life really is good right now you guys. Things are flowing, decisions are being made, the energy is bright and exciting, not to mention the beautiful weather we’ve had lately which makes me even MORE anxious for summer. 🙂 I really can’t complain about one thing.

Happy Friday everybody! I hope you all are able to enjoy this last weekend in April!

xoxo, Shannon

Friday Favorites: June 27

Yeah, I know I know. I haven’t been on my blogging game this week. Honestly didn’t have too much to share, so I let things add up a bit for a bigger, more interesting post to read 🙂

Moving on…to some recent favorites in my realm of Shannon lately.

1. Gus. He’s obviously always my favorite. And he hasn’t made a celebrity appearance on my blog for awhile. So here he is 🙂

2. RECEIVING MY OFFICIAL BODY PUMP CERTIFICATION! Okay so I may have lied up there about nothing exciting happening in my life. I officially received an email Thursday saying I am 100% certified as a Les Mills Body Pump Instructor!

So seriously thrilled that I can teach in any gym setting now. Oh, and this is JUST the beginning. Prepare for  more certifications coming up, guys! 🙂 I think I found my niche.

3. Yoga and Stretching. Feels. So. Great. After all this weight training for body pump, and long-distance running, pool running, and cycling… this morning was the perfect day to just STRETCH. Breathing deeply. Letting go.

4. On that note, I’d like to mirror this puppy’s thoughts.

thats a wrap

Okay, I am NOT a fan of small dogs, but THIS is hilarious. Wrapping up in a blanket sounds pretty perfect right now. Watching movies, eating popcorn, and studying for my Final NETA Group Fitness certification exam coming up. Ahhhh, yes, all of that!

5. Just loooove this. (the idea). Maybe I could do one strand… Oooh!

6. Food. All the Food.

I made these breakfast cookies.

And have reintroduced turkey bacon in my life. (Happiness happiness happiness)

Officially voted this to be the best combination of foods EVER on the planet. Turkey and avocado. I just CANNOT get enough.

7. I need this outfit, in its entirety.

8. Scandal Season 3. Finally catching up on this show. I reeeeeally don’t like watching TV, but for some reason Kerry Washington just sucked me into this show 🙂

I love the back-handed drama and fighting and schemes and plans… give me more!

9. Really excited to go to Strawberry Fest in Cedarburg this weekend! So much good food, ahem, chocolate covered strawberries.

10. Have a fabulous weekend folks! Mwah! PS- is it really almost July?! WOO!

Friday Favorites! 4.4.2014

Annnd cue happy music. HAPPY FRIDAY!

Ahhh, a nice short week for me after coming back from California… super happy it’s the weekend already! I’ve been loving some awesomely fabulous things lately, so here you go! 🙂

Wisconsin Badgers in the FINAL FOUR! Go Bucky, Go Bucky! Tomorrow’s game is going to be a hoot. And I reeeeally hope we win! These NCAA games have been such awesome entertainment lately, and I really hope the Badgers make it to the top!!

Anything Will Smith. I keep forgetting how HILARIOUS his movies are. Seriously, my roommate and I recently watched Men in Black, and he just KILLS me. We’re totally watching Hitch tonight. Decided.

They even played “Gettin Jiggy With It” at the gym this morning. Of COURSE I sang all the words out loud….And yes, I would GLADLY make any Will Smith image my #mcm Instagram, you better believe it!

Banana Republic Classic Perfume. So fresh. It’s seriously my favorite, anytime scent. And it lasts allllll day, no joking!

Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate. You guys, HONEST TO GOODNESS, this is the best chocolate I’ve ever had. It satisfies my dark chocolate desires, while not making me want to just eat the whole bar (and let me tell you, that’s a huge feat!). Rich, decadent, smooth. All of the above. Go get some… they’re only $1.79 for THREE BARS!

This Shirt. Just do it, you’ll be glad you did 🙂 Buy it here!

Spicy Garlic Edamame. I made these last night (and forgot to take a picture) but wowww, they’re so delicious. I doubled the batch, so I could have some to snack on today and tomorrow too! The vinegar and soy sauce is so delicious, and the spiciness definitely enhances the flavor of the beans. Gotta try it! Check out the recipe on Energy We Bring!

Body Pump. I know I write about this often, but seriously, this is one of my favorite group exercises classes EVER. And after April 13, I will officially be certified to teach! GAWWW, so Pumped. 🙂

That concludes my currently loving everything Friday post. = = longest phrase ever. I hope this finds you all happy and healthy and loving this Friday too!

What are your weekend plans?
Tomorrow I’m running my first half marathon of the season! Can’t wait to knock it out, and we ACTUALLY are supposed to get sun and mid-40’s, so I will gladly run in that!

Do you have a favorite kind of dark chocolate?
I’m oooobviously always open to new ideas 🙂
