Life Lately 4.3.2017

It’s Monday again. It’s a new month.ย There’s so much to be thankful for this Spring ๐Ÿ™‚

I haven’t written in awhile, and I’d like to tell you it’s because I’ve been too busy (which is partially true). Truthfully, I have definitely had “free time” on the weekends to jot down ideas and thoughts on what to put in my blog, but I didn’t do it. I took that time to snuggle with my puppy, watch Bones on Netflix (of which I really can’t get enough), and cook/ go on walks with my love. It has been a roller coaster of a month to be sure!

I have been so in tune with my yoga practice, and this feeling is unlike any I’ve felt before. I am not stressed. Literally you guys, lately, my stress is virtually nonexistent. I have changed many aspects of my life and how I spend my time since the beginning of this year, and so far, every decision has been one that benefits me. I can feel the positive effects so strongly and immediately.

We go for daily walks as a family (me, Patrick and Bay) and have been LOVING this warmer weather. Sundays, we walk for 3-5 miles in the morning with coffee and sometimes stop for donuts if we are so inspired ๐Ÿ™‚

I have been getting better quality sleep, and have allowed myself to sleep more on the weekends (instead of getting up early like I usually do). I have been eating more natural proteins and SO many veggies; not to mention very little processed or preservative-filled foods. And my alcohol consumption is significantly reduced too. I go to the gym every weekday morning, and I always listen to my body regarding when it needs rest or when I’m feeling exceptionally strong that day.

I’ve been frequenting my yoga studio a few blocks away once or twice per week, in addition to my own personal practice. I am so excited to feel strength building in my upper body and that I’m able to hit more arm balances and ones that usually require more flexibility. This yoga journey has been incredible so far!

Long weekend runs are going pretty well. I’m running more than 8 miles every Saturday, in preparation for half marathons that we have in April and May. Then marathon training starts in June of course. And that is something I am SO excited for (ironic, I know). I saw so many of my friends and other local runners talking about running the Lakefront Marathon last year and I had a severe case of FOMO so I am so excited to be part of that training this year again! ๐Ÿ™‚

Patrick and I are settling in so nicely in our neighborhood and are excited to stay in this area for another year. We love the quiet calm that’s here, and we love all the dogs and runners and families too! It’s such a great fit for us and our chill, yet still active, lifestyles. My bearded, wonderful, incredibly selfless man is the best person I could’ve asked for to grow with and travel with and see the world with. I am so incredibly lucky โค

Love those around you. Hug your puppies more. Hold hands with your friends and significant others. Drink more tea and sleep more. Let your body be your temple, and allow your heart to pour love into everything you do. โค

Just like Bay does every day ๐Ÿ˜‰

Peace friends, xoxo.

Life Lately! 10.24.16

Hi people! These monthly life update blog posts have become very common and easily maintainable for me. So I think I might keep this going ๐Ÿ™‚ย Wuddya think?

We have been loving our busy schedules lately – this month was FILLED with travel, all over the country! Portland, OR; Austin, TX; and the photo above was from this weekend visiting my grandparents in Madison. Love love loving Autumn!

Friday night we joined our wonderful friends for a pumpkin carving party – mine is above, Patrick’s is below. The morning after… mine was DEVOURED by squirrels.ย What the heck!ย It was pretty hilarious to be honest though…

Let’s travel back to the end of September/ beginning of October. Patrick, my sister Mandaline, her boyfriend Erik and I traveled to Portland, OR for a wonderful getaway for 5 days. And lemme tell ya, WE FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS STATE. Portland is such a gorgeous and open city, with all the cycling, coffee shops, and hiking areas you can imagine ๐Ÿ™‚ #heaven

We went hiking along the Oregon Coast and saw the GORGEOUS ocean. The vastness of this magnificent part of our earth always stirs a wild travel lust within me. I can’t stop thinking about going back!

We went to a few wineries along the coast as well! The boys, enjoying their decadent pinots ๐Ÿ˜‰

And sisters doing what sisters do – with the most beautiful sky you can possibly imagine. โค

We had the most delicious brunch too. I MEAN HELLO, below.

YES we are thinking of moving there. NO we don’t have a timeline yet. But YES it is officially part of our souls and we must follow our dreams ๐Ÿ™‚

Bringing it back home – I have been half marathon training the last few weeks (weird, I know). I always considered myself “trained for a half marathon at all times” but I wanted to really put an effort into this training for my half marathon here in Milwaukee on November 6, so I got some NEW KICKS (because duh) last weekend. Asics are my new runners, and I love them so far!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyone else run in Asics? Thoughts??

Maintaining my yoga practice as well, with all this training and running and lifting. Still learning, still loving, and still expressing myself in new ways every day. โค

Running has brought me SO much joy lately. It gives me a reason to get outside and get fresh air, get my sore muscles moving, and allows me to really feel my breath (outside of yoga) so I can push myself harder every day. I’m running a marathon next May, so continuing training even in “off season” is so important for me.

Baymax has been PERFECT and AMAZING and growing like CRAY. He’s almost 90 pounds guys. Our little pup is growing up so fast โค He’s still dumb though, so I’m okay with that ๐Ÿ™‚ Smart, but still my little dum-dum.

Our Austin trip was wonderful – a beautiful celebration of love at our friend’s wedding. We loved seeing the city and even though it was 90+ degrees the whole time, it was a wonderful quick weekend trip to see a sweeeeet city! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oooobviously yoga happened.

He’s kinda the best person I’ve ever met โค

This is what’s basically going on with me lately. My personal training and two other jobs are keeping me busybusybusy and every single day I’m figuring out a new way to be grateful, happy, and still push myself towards my goals. โค My life is whole and still finds ways to fill me up, with such beautiful friends and family surrounding me every single day. I could NOT be happier right about now ๐Ÿ™‚ โค

Happy Monday everybody, here’s to another wonderful month of Autumn!! AND HALLOWEEN COMING UP!

Peace, xoxo

Sunrise Morning Runs.

Last night, we laid low. It was necessary and absolutely wonderful. Relaxation time is so few and far between these days, so we stayed in, made dinner, and watched a movie together. I couldn’t have asked for a better Wednesday night ๐Ÿ™‚ Thought I’d link up for a very contemplative Thinking Out Loud post today…

My alarm went off at 5:15 this morning, and we set out for a glorious run along Milwaukee’s lakefront. And we watched the spectacular sunrise.

photo 2 (1)

The sun took its sweet lovely time rising this morning. And I couldn’t take my eyes off it. Clearly the sun knows how special and powerful he is, keeping all of us happy and healthy and prospering on earth. Thank you, Mr. Sun ๐Ÿ™‚

photo 1

I couldn’t help but wonder, and ponder, and think deeply about what the sunrise means to me. Every time I glanced over the water to take another glimpse at how far it had risen, I had another moment to think about another day that I am going to live and experience and create memories within. It’s such a beautiful reminder of how gorgeous and incredible life is; it takes my breath away every time the sun rises and sets. I contemplate my life, and what I still want to accomplish during this beautiful existence on earth, and I’m overjoyed with how many more sunrises I will hopefully get to witness ๐Ÿ™‚

photo 2

How gorgeous is that? But really… The sunrise consistently makes meย feel overwhelmed with love and filled with awe. How simple for the earth to circulate around the sun every single day, giving us the light and warmth we need to live, and then see it disappear again, so we can rest our eyes and bodies and minds every night.

photo 3 (1) photo 3 photo 4

A few inversion variations later, I could truly understand why watching the sun come into view every morning calms me. It’s the promise of a new day. And the world still turns for life here on our wonderful planet to prosper and continue on. I am so grateful, and so astonished, at how our galaxies work together…how we all rely on our planet forย every.thing. The sunlight is just one of those seemingly magical stems of life that we are graced with every single day.

photo 1 (1)

Happiness doesn’t even begin to cover how he makes me feel โค I couldn’t be in a better place at a better time in my life. Inย our lives together. Thank you, love, for everything you always do and every kind thought or word you’ve exchanged with me ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait for more sunrise runs with you.

What does the sunrise mean to you? How do you visualize the sun every morning? Do you take moments to simply watch the sunrise?

Have a glorious and grateful day, everyone โค

Peace, xoxo.

MIMM: 25th birthday celebratory weekend! So.Much.Cake.

Cake. Yeah, that pretty much sums up my birthday weekend. Cake and a lot of reallyyyyyy good Mexican food โค

My mom surprised me at work the morning of my birthday with a DELICIOUS carrot cake – my favorite favorite kind of cake/ probably my favorite dessert ever.

And I made her take a selfie with me โค Love you mama!

me and mom

The night of my birthday was filled with stories, laughs, cake, tacos, presents, beautiful sunsets, and more cake.

My step mom made an incredible Mexican dinner, with homemade fish tostadas, black bean and corn salsa, yellow rice (my fave), and some incredible sangria. Yeah, it’s safe to say I had my fair share in helpings of THAT meal!

My younger sister even MADE this cake for me from scratch – decorated with frosting and everything! She is so talented, eh? (Yes it was freaking delicious, and YES that is edible glitter on top… she knows me so well ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Friday morning, I made the (somewhat) difficult but necessary decision to forego extra sleep and get to Body Pump that morning. Yessss it was so worth it – such a good class and really felt the burn!

One of my favorite tasks this weekend was to figure out how to use my newest gadget, a birthday gift to me… behold, the iPhone 5s. I never thought the day would come when I would switch from my Android, but it had to happen, and I.AM.THRILLED. My sisters and I can all iMessage now, and that kinda sums up why its better ๐Ÿ™‚

I was contemplating this as a second gift for myself, but thought… “Shannon, get a grip. You’re 25, and people don’t need more reasons to think you’re 18.”

I only have a few pictures from Saturday night, but it was a GREAT time with friends celebrating my birthday – oh yeah, with more Mexican food. They brought out this (hilarious) sombrero and sang me a really (hilariously pathetic and awkward) birthday song with maracas, and gave me a plate with flan and a candle in it. The food was outSTANDing, and I’m so glad I got to catch up with some friends and my sister! (Yes, they let me keep the sombrero, too).

I forced everyone to take singular pictures with me too.ย Its promย again!! I’ll post this one of me and my sister, so you can get an idea haha!

Yesterday, before my sister started her sojourn back to Chicago, we went for a nice (long) ((hilly)) bike ride with my dad to a park nearby our house. It was actually a great workout, and a beautiful day for it (until it started downpouring). Ahhh, family fun, right?

10430821_10202670054864752_162540389175201084_nย Hope you all had stellar weekends โค And thanks for all your birthday wishes!! I’m so happy and so blessed ๐Ÿ™‚ hashtag: sentimentalmoment.

MIMM: Erin Go Braugh!

Happy (Chilly) Saint Patrick’s Day everyone!! It’s absolutely a very easy day to feel Marvelous in my Monday – seeing as St. Patrick’s Day is tied for my favorite holiday EVER. Gotta love celebrating my Irish heritage, and, with the last name Dunne, my family definitely goes all out with food, parties, and great times with friends ๐Ÿ™‚

Feeling extra-happy for so many reasons today…

I got a new car!! Pleased to introduce you to my 2011 Toyota Camry XLE. Wow, I am so so happy with this car! Leather seats and a sunroof? I don’t care what else comes with it, those two features are GREAT for me! This took up the majority of my weekend, but I am beyond ecstatic about driving my new super car! I have yet to name him, but stay tuned – it’ll happen…

Keeping positive about my future. I have been planning and thinking and over-thinking so many aspects of my life lately. It’s so exciting, but it can also be stressful. Especially if I want things to happen NOW! Feeling Marvelous being myself, doing my thing, and loving the lemons that life throws at me ๐Ÿ™‚

Planking. I have been very focused on making the best of my workouts lately, and I have not felt stronger, leaner, or healthier in quite awhile! Working my upper body and doing some extended planks this morning was the best way to kick off my Marvelous Monday!

st pattys outfit

Representing the Irish! Gotta rep some green/turquoise anywhere today! And wearing extra-sparkly tights to jazz it up ๐Ÿ™‚

Quality Time with Family. Had a fantastic weekend with my family (after my car purchase). It’s so nice to be able to relax and share a glass of wine with my dad and step-mom, while enjoying some traditional and DELICIOUS Irish cuisine.

Oh, and here’s my really weird catย Cookie drinking out of my dog’s water bowl. WHY? We have no idea…

How marvelous is your Monday??
What was the highlight of your weekend?
