Life Lately 4.3.2017

It’s Monday again. It’s a new month.Β There’s so much to be thankful for this Spring πŸ™‚

I haven’t written in awhile, and I’d like to tell you it’s because I’ve been too busy (which is partially true). Truthfully, I have definitely had “free time” on the weekends to jot down ideas and thoughts on what to put in my blog, but I didn’t do it. I took that time to snuggle with my puppy, watch Bones on Netflix (of which I really can’t get enough), and cook/ go on walks with my love. It has been a roller coaster of a month to be sure!

I have been so in tune with my yoga practice, and this feeling is unlike any I’ve felt before. I am not stressed. Literally you guys, lately, my stress is virtually nonexistent. I have changed many aspects of my life and how I spend my time since the beginning of this year, and so far, every decision has been one that benefits me. I can feel the positive effects so strongly and immediately.

We go for daily walks as a family (me, Patrick and Bay) and have been LOVING this warmer weather. Sundays, we walk for 3-5 miles in the morning with coffee and sometimes stop for donuts if we are so inspired πŸ™‚

I have been getting better quality sleep, and have allowed myself to sleep more on the weekends (instead of getting up early like I usually do). I have been eating more natural proteins and SO many veggies; not to mention very little processed or preservative-filled foods. And my alcohol consumption is significantly reduced too. I go to the gym every weekday morning, and I always listen to my body regarding when it needs rest or when I’m feeling exceptionally strong that day.

I’ve been frequenting my yoga studio a few blocks away once or twice per week, in addition to my own personal practice. I am so excited to feel strength building in my upper body and that I’m able to hit more arm balances and ones that usually require more flexibility. This yoga journey has been incredible so far!

Long weekend runs are going pretty well. I’m running more than 8 miles every Saturday, in preparation for half marathons that we have in April and May. Then marathon training starts in June of course. And that is something I am SO excited for (ironic, I know). I saw so many of my friends and other local runners talking about running the Lakefront Marathon last year and I had a severe case of FOMO so I am so excited to be part of that training this year again! πŸ™‚

Patrick and I are settling in so nicely in our neighborhood and are excited to stay in this area for another year. We love the quiet calm that’s here, and we love all the dogs and runners and families too! It’s such a great fit for us and our chill, yet still active, lifestyles. My bearded, wonderful, incredibly selfless man is the best person I could’ve asked for to grow with and travel with and see the world with. I am so incredibly lucky ❀

Love those around you. Hug your puppies more. Hold hands with your friends and significant others. Drink more tea and sleep more. Let your body be your temple, and allow your heart to pour love into everything you do. ❀

Just like Bay does every day πŸ˜‰

Peace friends, xoxo.

MIMM #5: Good runs with great people!

Holy cats man – MONDAY again? I guess this is just how it has to be…

Did you all have a nice weekend? We sure did here in Wisco! I had some pretty marvelous experiences to share with y’all πŸ™‚ Teaming up with Katie for MIMM!

Friday after work, Patrick and I got to working on our puzzle (which honestly has been neglected the last few weeks) and then walked down to Summerfest grounds to meet his sister, bro-in-law and my dad for the Festa Italiana Rush-on-Festa 5K! A Friday night 5K isn’t reeeeeeeeeeally the easiest time to run, but it was a blast!

photo 1

This was Sarah and Josh’s first official 5K too! So we were so excited to celebrate with them! So proud of how far they’ve come and we can’t wait to do more races with them! ❀ πŸ™‚

photo 1

This is how we celebrate. We like to climb on things and be weird together, so this is why we date πŸ˜‰ ❀

photo 2 (1)

I realized (through Timehop) that this 5K last year was my PR! I got 27:10 last year, and this year I got 29:50 haha. Big difference, but ya know, I had fun and it was only about 80 degrees and 75% humidity πŸ™‚ So I’ll take it!

Saturday morning I got up and ran 7 miles on my own, before we headed down to Port Washington for their Port Fish Days 8K! I took a few pictures of the sunrise before the HUGE storm we got. Gorgeous, isn’t it?

photo 3 photo 4

Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures at the race (don’t ask me why. #blogfail) but I ran my entire 12 miles at a pretty decent pace. Not my best, not my worst, and I’m glad I stuck with it and finished strong! #marvelous ❀

We walked around a bit afterwards, got some food with my dad, and then headed home for the rest of our Saturday festivities!

photo 2 (2)

I got to watch my little sister at her Irish dancing competition! ISN’T SHE SO CUTE? I can’t even stand it. I’m such a proud big sister. After Saturday and Sunday’s competitions, she participated in 7 dances, and walked away with FIVE FIRST PLACES, Two second places and one third place. πŸ˜€ I’m living vicariously through her; she’s such a great kid! ❀ ❀ ❀

After the competition, we headed downtown for Milwaukee’s Firkin Fest! Tried lots of awesome firkin beers and foods, and talked to some hilarious people. Oh Milwaukee, you never cease to confuse and enlighten me πŸ™‚ My favorites were ones that tasted like coffee or pineapple. I know, I’m so girly.

He’s my favorite firkin person ever πŸ˜‰ ❀

We met some friends for Cuban food for dinner, which hit the SPOT! Cuban sandwiches and plantain chips all around! πŸ˜€ After a 12 mile run, my body was SCREAMING for carbs πŸ™‚ (not complaining, of course). It was a wonderful end to a wonderful day!

Sunday was relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaxing day. We did some errands, but mostly relaxed at home and finished our last Harry Potter movie! Guys, I can’t NOT cry less than 10 times watching the last movie. For real. ❀ #marvelous

Got brunch. #nuffsaid

photo 4 (1) photo 5

We cooked pizza flavored brat burgers for dinner. Guys, YUM. And sauteed a bunch of zucchini and squash. πŸ™‚

photo 1 (4)

It was an absolutely perfect weekend. I’m so grateful for all these freaking great people in my life. ❀

And I, of course, completed my yoga pose challenges… last night and this morning πŸ™‚

What was the highlight of your weekend?

Do you like any good firkin dranks?

Are backbends as hard for you as they are for me?? πŸ˜‰

Peace, xoxo.

MIMM #2: A Weekend Recap

Good morning world! Latest blog today, from the girl who slept an hour past her alarm clock and got over TEN hours of sleep last night. YAY energy! BOO less time to workout! We’ll just have to transition into an “after-hours” workout instead.

This last weekend was filled with spending time with friends allllllll over the place! Celebrating friendships, love and new marriages, and just life overall. Let’s recap, linking up with this Marvelous in My Monday post; thanks Katie! ❀ #mimm

Friday night after I work, I headed up to my best lady friend Stefani’s house, to spend dinnertime with her and her sweet pup Winston! Such a fun relaxing night. Always goes by so fast, since we talk-talk-talk! ❀

A late Friday night turned into an early Saturday morning, when I got up to run 9 miles for my marathon build-up training! Ran 8 of them with my dad and friend/running-partner Sarah! It was the PERFECT morning to run, and we all had such a great time chatting and catching up!

photo 2 (2)photo 3 (3)

After the run was done, Patrick and I met up and got ready for the wedding we were attending that night, one of his really good friends Joel and Alison. Very fun wedding, and I’m so glad we got to see some friends who live in Chicago we don’t get to see too often!

Cassie and Leke are such AWESOME friends, and we were so excited to spend time with them before, during and after the wedding!

Cassie is ADORABLE and pregnant, and is seriously the cutest mom-to-be ever.

photo 4 (2)

Weddings that have photo boots ALWAYS are fun. The last picture is the best, in my opinion, HAHA. ❀

Oh, and below is Justin πŸ™‚

We had such a wonderful night, and had so much fun dancing and celebrating love! ❀

On Sunday, we got to visit with our awesome friends Ashlie and Jon who drove in from about 3 hours away. I totally forgot to take a picture, but we all ate at the AMAZING Smoke Shack in Milwaukee – all barbeque delicacies. HOLY CATS DELICIOUS! I got a Montecristo breakfast sandwich with BBQ pulled pork in the middle, and Patrick got Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict. Ahhh! #heaven

Afterwards (and beforehand), we went on a lovely leisurely walk down the lakefront, passing Summerfest and enjoying the cool lakeside breeze. A fantastic end to the long, busy, fun-filled weekend!

photo (2)

My yoga pose for Saturday. ❀

Patrick and I spent the rest of Sunday afternoon relaaaaaxing and watching Harry Potter 1. I seriously can’t think of a better way to end the weekend ❀

Philosopher's Stone

What was the highlight of your weekend?? Are you training for anything?? What is your FAVORITE kind of Barbeque?

Much love, from us ❀

Peace, xoxo.

MIMM: After a week-long break…

Happy Belated Easter, people! πŸ™‚ I trust you all shoved your faces with enough ham and chocolate? Good, me too.

chocolate bunny

And yes, as an almost-25-year-old, I still got Easter baskets. From both parents, aaand my grandmas. Feeling the love ❀

After an incredibly busy few weeks, I am FINALLY back, with lots of news to share πŸ™‚ Definitely a marvelous time in my life!

Body Pump Certification Training – PASSED

body pump cert

After a loooong 27-hour weekend of body pump training, I finished last Sunday night with an acceptance and passing grade through the training portion! I was THRILLED, albeit incredibly sore from all the lifting we were doing. The training was arduous and I really pushed my body through the mental blocking I usually encounter when I workout hard.Β I couldn’t be happier!!! I felt SO MARVELOUS, and I can’t wait to finalize my last few stages to get OFFICIALLY certified in Les Mills Body Pump πŸ™‚

Above: Photo of our class from the weekend. I’m in the front row πŸ™‚

And I just got word that I can start shadowing my usual gym instructor to get used to the stage life πŸ˜‰ Can’t WAIT to get this rolling and incorporated into my normal schedule! Body Pump Instructor…COMIN AT YA!

I love my dog πŸ™‚

One of my favorite favorite parts of going home for a weekend, aside from seeing my family of course, is hanging out with my hilarious, adorable, and super perfect puppy Gus. This is us in the back of my family van (he takes up most of the seat). So regal isn’t he?

Easter with my family.

Looong weekend filled with copious amounts of home-cooked food, and quality gut-busting laughter that only your hilarious sisters or silly grandparents can induce.

Easter mass, as tradition. (Awesome lighting in this picture – nooooot!) And my dad and I were lectors this year – pretty exciting moment for us to read in front of hundreds! πŸ™‚

Newwwww makeup!

My mom Β  The Easter bunny got me some great new mascara you have GOT to try. I am super impressed with it, and I like to think of myself as a pretty stingy person when it comes to finding theΒ perfect mascara.

Nothing can replace the feeling of euphoria I get from sweating at the gym/ after a long workout. I can feel the zing in my step and more alertness in my head when I start the day off with a mood-boosting workout. Here are some great quotes I have been reeling through my head lately πŸ™‚

addicted to sweat

lets go

I hope you all are feeling marvelous today too πŸ™‚ This 70 degree weather in Wisconsin sure does the trick! Happy Monday everybooooooooooooooody ❀

MIMM: First Race of the Season!

To-do list is written for the week, oatmeal is eaten, and all emails have been checked. Ohh glorious Monday πŸ™‚ Did I mention that Mother Nature is actually starting to be kind to us in Wisconsin too? It’s over 40 degrees out people… yeah, it’s happening!

unnamed (1)

I’m feelingΒ MARVELOUS for one main thing this beautiful Monday. And THAT is for my awesome first half marathon I participated in this past Saturday. The weather was seasonably perfect, 45 degrees and sunny with very little wind. This made for a somewhat even body temperature, since it was a bit chilly but the sun was still out.

Sweat, salt, and freckles. All the signs of a perfect sunny spring-time run.

My dad, sister, friend Sarah and I all ran together (yet separately) and we all felt GREAT afterwards! Such a happy way to begin not only the Spring season, but also to kick off our Running season!! πŸ™‚

run 1

Our mascot (my dog) Gus even showed up to support us at the end πŸ˜‰
Best. Puppy. Ever.

The happiest part of this run? I was only TWO MINUTES away from a personal record. I will GLADLY take that for the first run of this season πŸ™‚

Happy Monday everyone!
Why are all of you feeling mahhhhhvelous today?? ❀

MIMM: Erin Go Braugh!

Happy (Chilly) Saint Patrick’s Day everyone!! It’s absolutely a very easy day to feel Marvelous in my Monday – seeing as St. Patrick’s Day is tied for my favorite holiday EVER. Gotta love celebrating my Irish heritage, and, with the last name Dunne, my family definitely goes all out with food, parties, and great times with friends πŸ™‚

Feeling extra-happy for so many reasons today…

I got a new car!! Pleased to introduce you to my 2011 Toyota Camry XLE. Wow, I am so so happy with this car! Leather seats and a sunroof? I don’t care what else comes with it, those two features are GREAT for me! This took up the majority of my weekend, but I am beyond ecstatic about driving my new super car! I have yet to name him, but stay tuned – it’ll happen…

Keeping positive about my future. I have been planning and thinking and over-thinking so many aspects of my life lately. It’s so exciting, but it can also be stressful. Especially if I want things to happen NOW! Feeling Marvelous being myself, doing my thing, and loving the lemons that life throws at me πŸ™‚

Planking. I have been very focused on making the best of my workouts lately, and I have not felt stronger, leaner, or healthier in quite awhile! Working my upper body and doing some extended planks this morning was the best way to kick off my Marvelous Monday!

st pattys outfit

Representing the Irish! Gotta rep some green/turquoise anywhere today! And wearing extra-sparkly tights to jazz it up πŸ™‚

Quality Time with Family. Had a fantastic weekend with my family (after my car purchase). It’s so nice to be able to relax and share a glass of wine with my dad and step-mom, while enjoying some traditional and DELICIOUS Irish cuisine.

Oh, and here’s my really weird catΒ Cookie drinking out of my dog’s water bowl. WHY? We have no idea…

How marvelous is your Monday??
What was the highlight of your weekend?

Marvelous in My Monday: Take one!

Happy Monday everyone! This is my first MIMM post and I am excited to get this together! Thanks Katie for this fabulous idea πŸ™‚

Let’s talk about all the Maahhhhvelous things that are happening in this wonderful life right now, shall we?

Holy cats, you guys. I am obsessed. This amazing line has SO many great quality workout clothes, and I can’t get enough of them! The fabric is so breathable and SO comfortable! These are my favorite marvelous leggings right now. You can sort of see me wearing them in this photo from Leg Day last week!

New Running Shoes
I’ve been researching a ton about different running shoes, reading blogs reviews, etc. And I have found that Reebok has always done me right. So I recently bought these super light weight shoes that are very agreeable with my foot size and shape! So far I am a BIG fan and I’m really looking forward to half-marathon training in these!

Reebok RealFlex 2.0

Marvelous is absolutely the word for this color I have on my nails today! I love anything Essie, and this polish is perfectly, superbly Springy πŸ™‚

Sandals Season
It is RIGHT around the corner. I CAN FEEL IT! Today is a beautiful 50 degrees (even though the rest of the week will be colder) but warm weather always inspires me to want more sandals! Aren’t these from Lulu’s just perfect?

My dad recently bought a huuuuge box of Florida oranges, and I cannot get enough of them! Juicy and super sweet citrus. Mmmm! Definitely a one-a-day occurrence.

Hi, I like oranges.
